The Cantieri Navali di Sestri are the jewels in the crown of Genoa's yacht building industry. And that's something we're intensely proud of. When we were founded in the mid-1950s our main business was barge demolition and maintenance, but we've come a long way since then. From our change in direction towards the pleasure sailing sector in the late 1980s we've experienced constant progress, achieving increasingly significant goals.
Our president Fulvio Montaldo is the steady hand at the company's helm. He is always open to innovation and the use of constantly developing technology, and despite the current economic climate he is ready to make new investments, reflecting a clear awareness that growth is only possible if backed by a forward-thinking attitude. We decided to celebrate our latest important commitment.
On the 9th July, within the yard itself, we opened the new office building. The ultra-modern design by the MeV Studio of Genoa was "christened" with an aperitif offered to the many guests who came to visit the new building and praise this important new facility - it even provides a gym for staff and crews of the yachts staying in the yard for repairs or maintenance.
Many clients attended, along with members of the press and representatives from the airport and marina. The event took place in an evocative candle-lit atmosphere, and guests were offered a large selection of fish-based and vegetarian finger-food, prepared by the skilful hands of chef Luca Collami from Punta Santa Chiara restaurant. The musical background was provided by the lovely, highly-talented and inseparable duo Jessica Cochiss and her saxophone. The official interludes were presented by actor Fabio Massimo Bonini.
At the end of the evening everyone who took part was presented with an attractive and useful memento of the occasion. But there's more development to come - a two-million euro project is already in the pipeline. We'll be back soon with more news.
